How to change ID and Password for Apple or iCloud Account

Apple products, like iPhone, iPad, MacBook, iMac etc. requires Apple ID to download apps and use many other features. You can make an Apple ID like you do for many other online accounts. After creating an ID, there may be time when you want to change your Apple ID or Password. Apple ID is also known as iCloud Account ID, so there is nothing to get confused.
You need an email ID to create an Apple Account, and that email address could be from any service provider (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo etc.). After creating your Apple Account you get 2 IDs that can be used as Apple ID; One of them will be your exiting email address that you used to create your account, and the other you will get as You can use any of them (or both) to receive iMessage, Facetime calls and so on… If you don’t know how to do that read our article about how to change ID for iMessage.

How to add new email address to use as Apple ID

  •  Visit
  • Login with your existing ID and Password
  • Once logged in, click on Edit option under Account section

  • Click on Add an email address. Enter your email address, and click Continue

  • You will receivd verification code to the new email address that you You will be asked after clicking on Continue

How to change the primary email address for your Apple ID

As you can see the screenshot above where we informed how you can add a new email address, I have 3 email addresses added. Only one of them has cross sign that can be deleted, but you can follow these steps to change the Primary email address.
  • Login with your Apple ID and Password visiting
  • Click on Edit under account section as you did while adding new email address
  • Now hit Change email address

  • Enter your new email address that you want to use as Apple ID email, then follow the same procedure that we mentioned for adding a new email address

How to change the Password for Apple ID or iCloud Account

On the same page where you added a new email address, see the security section. Click on Change Password, and then you need to enter the Answers to your security questions. If you don’t remember it, you can click on reset your security questions option, and follow the instruction

Note : You can’t change the username ( The only option to change is “Create a new Apple Account.” This is just a supplementary account where you can receive email, but you can always add another email and use as Apple ID for iMessage, FaceTime, Apple Store etc..

How to Manage iOS Storage Setting to Solve iCloud Backup Error.

Did you end up with an error popup in  your iPhone saying “Not Enough Storage – This phone cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud Storage Available. You can manage your storage in settings.”, If yes, please follow this article.
Apple is giving you only 5GB of free iCloud storage and that is not sufficient to meet your backup needs most of the time. If you don’t want to spend more money on iCloud to buy extra storage space, then only one option for you is to limit apps that utilizing the iCloud back up Storage Space.
In general, most of your iCloud storage space is utilizing to backup your Photos and Videos from iPhone. The rest of the memory will consume by the messaging and game apps on you iPhone or iPad.
Ideally, the iCloud backup is essential to store your contacts, email account and other settings. This backup data will make your life easier when you switch your iOS device into new one. All settings and contacts will retrieve back to your new iPhone when setup new iPhone using the same iCloud account.
ios not enough spaceYour contacts and app setup configuration should be the first priority to backup rather than any other media. You can always control and select what you exactly backup into the iCloud space and leave some space in iCloud drive to sync the future contact updates.
Before you worry about the backup space, check on your iPhone to see what are the apps taking all your backup space. Go to go to iPhone Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage > Manage Storage.

You can turn off one or more than one apps backup to save space on your iCloud memory. Go to go to iPhone Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage > Manage Storage > Under BACKUPS > xxx’s iPhone > BACKUP OPTIONS > Turn Off Apps.
ios manage storageIf you have MAC and setup the same iCloud account for both, your computer may consume iCloud memory. You can check the setting on your MAC > System Preference > iCloud > tap on Manage > Manage Storage > Select the app > Delete Documents Data.

This offline files may also use a chunk of your available backup space. Another place you can check the Dropbox file or other cloud account file that you set for offline access.
If you have free iCloud backup plan, you can get 5GB free to backup your phone. You may need to trade off between the limited iCloud storage space and the number off apps that you can back up. It it better to give first priority for your Contacts, Calendar and Email Settings to keep those safe in cloud.
If you think that your photos and videos are so precious there are lot of other cloud services that offer you free space even up to one Terabyte of free space to save your media. You can utilize any one of these cloud services to backup your photos and other media files almost in real time. Then you will get plenty of space to save your precious contacts and calendars.
